Monday we are starting a new unit on solving expressions and equations.

The unit will focus on being able to solve equations to find the value of a variable, and also to communicate how the solution was found. Students will need to show their work to communicate their thinking and how they solved the equations.
By the end of the unit, students should know that. . .
1) Problem solving can be written down using an algebraic representation that can require a systematic approach.
2) Real-world problems with missing information can require representation by equations.
